How the Rental Model Works

  • Hardware (fuel probes, cameras, telematics devices) is financed via an approved rental partner.

  • SmartMix installs, calibrates, and supports the equipment.

  • Clients pay a fixed monthly rental for the use of the hardware over the contract term.

  • Ownership of the equipment remains with the rental provider for the duration of the agreement.
 
This ensures predictable monthly costs while protecting working capital.

Tax & VAT Efficiency

Because the structure is a pure rental (operating lease) and not an asset purchase, the financial treatment is generally advantageous: Income Tax

Monthly rental payments are typically treated as operating expenses incurred in the production of income. This means the rental (excluding VAT) can generally be deducted against taxable business income. VAT

Where the client is VAT-registered and the equipment is used in taxable operations:

  • VAT is charged on the monthly rental invoice.
  • The VAT portion can typically be claimed back as input VAT.

This makes the rental structure both tax-deductible and VAT efficient from a cash-flow perspective.
